Revopoint POP 4 (Premium) review

A multi-mode scanner that publishes its accuracy properly: 0.03 mm single-frame and a volumetric formula, with objects from 10 mm to 2 m.

The figures that matter

Revopoint prints single-frame accuracy, a volumetric formula and an object range. That is what a scanner page should do, and it is why this one is easy to judge.

Modes for different objects

Five modes cover small detail and larger objects, in laser and near-infrared. Laser mode handles the dark and reflective surfaces that defeat cheaper scanners.

Computer needs

The 105 fps figure needs NVIDIA GPU acceleration, and AI segmentation runs on Windows only. Check your machine first.

Where it earns its place, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • Volumetric accuracy stated as a formula
  • Laser mode for dark and reflective objects
  • Object size range printed

Compromises

  • Top speed needs an NVIDIA graphics card
  • AI segmentation is Windows only
  • Far more expensive than the Ferret kits

Questions makers ask before buying

What does 0.05 mm × L(m) mean?

Error grows with the length of the object. At one meter, the volumetric figure on the listing works out to 0.03 + 0.05 = 0.08 mm.

Can it scan outdoors?

The listing says multi-line laser mode works up to 50,000 lux, with an outdoor filter for stronger light.
