OMTech K40+ 45W review

A desktop CO2 laser with a 45 W tube and a 12 × 8 inch workspace, rated to cut 0.4 inch acrylic and 0.31 inch wood, with LightBurn support.

The upgraded K40

OMTech raises the classic K40 to 45 W, and adds air assist that follows the laser power and a honeycomb bed with a detachable section for irregular objects.

Software freedom

LightBurn and LaserGRBL support is a real improvement over the old K40 software.

What to plan

CO2 machines need cooling and an exhaust route. Read the manual for what is included. Plan the exhaust before the machine arrives.

Questions makers ask before buying

What can it cut?

The listing claims 0.4 in (10 mm) acrylic and 0.31 in (8 mm) wood.

Why choose CO2 over a diode?

A CO2 laser cuts clear acrylic and thicker wood. A diode does not cut clear acrylic.
