Genmitsu 4040-PRO review

A larger Genmitsu with a 435 × 400 × 80 mm working area, dual 16 mm steel rods on each axis and a reinforced spoilboard.

Room to work

At 435 × 400 mm, it takes jobs that a 3020 cannot, and a reinforced spoilboard addresses sag across that span.

Rods versus rails

Dual 16 mm rods are stiff enough for wood and plastics. They are a step below the linear rails on the PROVer, which show up in aluminum.

Upgrades

You can start simple and fit a bigger spindle. That is a good reason to pick this over a closed design.

Where it earns its place, and where it falls short

  • Assembly in about 15 minutes

Compromises

  • Rods, not linear rails
  • Table lists 240 V: confirm US supply
  • Rated 4.0 out of 5

Choose it for bed size. If you plan to mill aluminum, the 3030-PROVer Ultra is stiffer.
