xTool F2 review

A compact dual-laser marker with 15 W diode and 5 W infrared sources, a 50 MP camera and a stated 6,000 mm/s, listed by the maker as Class 4.

Two sources

Blue diode light is absorbed poorly by bare metal. The infrared source fills that gap, and the listing adds color marking and 3D embossing.

Honest labeling

xTool states Class 4 and prints both powers in milliwatts. Some listings blur this, so it is welcome.

Fast, small

A speed of 6,000 mm/s suits card and tag batches. For larger pieces, look at the S1.

Where it earns its place, and where it falls short

Strengths

  • IR laser marks metal, which blue diodes struggle with
  • Stated Class 4 honestly, not Class 1
  • Portable at 10 lb

Compromises

  • Class 4 means eyewear rules apply
  • Small work area suited to marking, not cutting
  • High price for the size

Questions makers ask before buying

Why does the F2 have two lasers?

The 15 W diode handles wood and similar materials, and the 5 W infrared source handles metals and plastics that diodes mark poorly.

What class is it?

The listing states Class 4 and gives both output powers. Follow the maker’s eyewear instructions.
