The best PETG filament for 2026

PETG is chosen when a print has to bend without snapping, resist more heat than PLA or stay outdoors, and it asks a little more of the printer. The diameter tolerance and net weight are published as for any filament, and they are the basis of every price comparison. The recommended temperatures run higher than PLA for both nozzle and bed, and a printer whose hotend is limited near the bottom of that range prints PETG poorly. Bed adhesion is the peculiarity: PETG can bond to a smooth glass or PEI surface strongly enough to tear it, and makers who publish a release agent or a preferred surface save that mistake. PETG takes up moisture from the air, which shows as stringing and bubbles; sealed packaging with desiccant matters, and drying before use is common. Transparency varies — clear, translucent, opaque — and clear grades show every layer line. Then the spool size and whether it suits an automatic material system. We compare diameter tolerance, net weight, recommended temperatures, adhesion guidance, moisture packaging, transparency and spool size.
