The best TPU filament for 2026

TPU prints rubbery parts — phone cases, gaskets, feet, tyres — and it is the filament that most clearly separates one printer design from another. Its key figure is Shore hardness, published on a scale such as 95A; a lower number is softer and more flexible, and harder to print. The diameter tolerance and net weight are listed as usual, and TPU spools are often smaller by weight. The recommended speed is lower than for rigid filaments, and the maker's figure is worth following: pushed fast, soft filament buckles inside the extruder. The extruder type matters more than anything: a direct-drive extruder with a constrained path prints TPU far more reliably than a long Bowden tube, and the listing may say which it suits. Recommended temperatures are published as ranges. TPU absorbs moisture, so packaging and drying advice apply. Then colour, transparency and spool size. We compare Shore hardness, diameter tolerance, net weight, recommended speed and temperatures, extruder guidance and packaging.
