Laser safety glasses filter the light of a particular laser, and they are specific: a pair made for one wavelength may offer nothing against another. The first specification is the wavelength range the lens covers, in nanometres, which has to include the laser's own — diode lasers around 450 nm, CO2 lasers around 10,600 nm and fibre lasers around 1,064 nm need different filters. At each wavelength the lens has an optical density, a logarithmic figure where each step blocks ten times more light, and the density required depends on the laser's power and the maker's guidance.
