The dial adjusts temperature and power, and the listing says a larger setting means more heat. It does not say what temperature each step reaches below the 550 °C maximum, which is why the maker suggests practising first.
Fumes in HYPEJET’s own words
Hot foam gives off fumes, and the fourth bullet itself advises a mask at high temperature. The page reports that advice as the maker’s and does not add to it.
