A heated wire through polystyrene, and the table decides the shapes · review
Komsepor 200 W hot knife, four nichrome blades, 0–600 °C review
A 200 W hot knife with four nickel-chromium blades of 15 and 20 cm, reaching 600 °C in 5 to 8 seconds, with air cooling and a maker’s recommendation to pause after six minutes of use.
The bottom line A hot knife with a clear temperature, a four-blade kit and an honest note about factory marks. The six-minute rest recommendation limits it to short jobs, and the groove blade’s presence is left unclear.
The Komsepor K2NSB listing, bullet by bullet
Five bullets: 200 W reaching a maximum of 600 °C in 5 to 8 seconds, with a note that factory performance checks can leave marks on the blades, the bullet repeating part of itself; an air cooling system with inlets against overheating; four nickel-chromium blades of 20 and 15 cm, and a 30 cm folding blade for the grooving model; light foam, KT board, polyurethane, polyethylene, EPS, XPS, EPP, EVA, EPE, PU, polyester foam, sponge and rubber; and a well-ventilated workplace with a break after more than six minutes.
Six minutes, in Komsepor’s words
The fifth bullet asks for a break after six minutes. Beside the WINONS’ 60 minutes, it is a different class of duty. For cutting a few shapes it is enough; for trimming a stack of insulation boards it is not.
Which variant is this?
The title names a red, air-cooled 200 W model with slots. The third bullet adds a 30 cm folding blade to “the grooving model”. Whether that blade comes with this offer is not stated, and it is worth asking.
Ventilation as the maker writes it
A well-ventilated place is the maker’s own advice. The page repeats it as such, and the manual defines how the cutter should be used.
Availability
At the last look-up, the German, French, Italian and Spanish Amazon stores were asking 106 € to 123 €.
The American and British Amazon catalogues list the product, yet no seller was offering it.
