Not automatically. A larger build volume allows bigger parts in one piece, but it brings a larger bed to heat and level, more space taken and sometimes slower printing. Most beginner projects fit on a mid-sized bed, and large models can be split.
Build volume is tempting to maximise, and it has costs that only appear after a few weeks.
What a larger build volume gives
Bigger parts in one piece, such as helmets, large enclosures and long brackets. More parts per plate, useful for batches.
What it costs
Space: a larger frame and often a larger footprint for the moving bed. Heating time for a larger bed. Levelling a larger surface. Moving mass on bed-slinger designs, which can limit speed. Price, usually higher for the same features.
Splitting large models
Slicers can cut a model into sections that are printed separately and joined with pins, glue or bolts. Many large prints are made this way even on big printers, because smaller sections print more reliably.
Choosing a size
List the largest dimension of the first projects, add a margin for brims and plate clips, and compare with the declared build volume. If only occasional projects exceed it, splitting is usually more practical than a larger machine.

What size do most beginner projects need?
Many practical parts — clips, holders, small enclosures, figures — are small. Listing the first projects and their dimensions is more useful than a general rule.
Are large printers harder to level?
A larger bed has more area to be flat and parallel, which makes automatic levelling and mesh compensation more valuable on big machines.
